Through the process of felting, children will enhance their fine motor skills by manipulating wool fibers and using tools like specialized felting needles and soap and water. Felting also fosters creativity and self-expression and teaches patience and focus. Students will create their own felted masterpieces such as adorable animals, sculptural pots or vibrant wool paintings.
Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of felting techniques, including wet felting, needle felting, and blended felting in a fun and supportive environment with our friendly and knowledgeable instructor.
Students will complete at least 2 or more felted projects using different techniques. All supplies are included.
Students will learn:
A basic understanding of what felt is and how different types of wool can be used in felting
Wet felting techniques using water, soap and agitation to transform wool into felted fabric
Needle felting techniques using a special needle to interlock fibers together
Creative expression through designing and making unique felted pieces
